Manila / April 2011 – Following the successful staging of its first cordless race in
Shanghai, China last May 2010, power tools pioneer Bosch announces the local
leg of its first Asia-wide championships that include Thailand, Malaysia, China
and Korea. The Bosch Philippine Cordless Race engages engineering students
to create race karts powered by Bosch cordless lithium-Ion power tools, challenge
each other in time trials, and ultimately, the championship race in Beijing later this
year. The winning Filipino team will receive P100 thousand.

The Philippine leg of the race will take place at Boomland Kart Track, CCP
Complex in Pasay City on May 15, 2011 at 10AM and is expected to draw over a
thousand participants, top-billed by contestants from eight of the countries’
premier technical colleges and universities, including Colegio de San Juan De
Letran, Calamba; Don Bosco Technical College, Mandaluyong; Mapua Institute of

The whole day event includes a cheer dance contest for pep squads of the eight
participating schools, presentations on Bosch Cordless Power Tools, and
performances from dance group the Velasco Brothers and cager-rapper Alex
Crisano. The evening program will culminate with an awarding ceremony and a
concert featuring Amber, General Luna, and Parokya ni Edgar.

Under the hood: a cordless powertrain
The race will feature specially-crafted karts powered by the current generation
Bosch cordless impact drills and drivers. Vehicle design and other modifications
are geared towards optimizing lithium-ion tools and pairing proper gear
configurations to produce higher speeds. Race teams will battle for a place on
the winner’s podium, whilst simultaneously create a competitive proving ground
for Bosch lithium-ion technology’s power, performance and durability.
